Sure, she is an ultra-hot porn star whose scenes are naturally sexy, energetic and down-right-dirty; but she also has a rather diversified resume when it comes to professions.  She took a break from the industry for a little while in which she entered into a brief career as an Arizona corrections officer, but returned with a vengeance and a new set of double D’s and hasn’t looked back.

SL: How did you get started in porn?

DR: I had a friend who was in the industry and I never really knew what she did; I knew that she was in school and on the weekends she would be in LA working and I always wondered what it was she was doing. She and I were really close and so one day she told me. I was like ‘shut up!’ I didn’t believe she made porn on the weekends. She made incredible money; this was 5 or 6 years ago, when you could still make a good amount of money doing this. There weren’t as many girls; but there were these girls that could come in, do a ton of scenes, make a grip of cash and get out. At that point in my life I just wasn’t prepared for what porn was all about. I was 23, I didn’t even know enough about my own body to even know what I was doing on film. Granted, I could lay back and get fucked, but that was about it. I wasn’t very sexually seasoned yet. I did it for a few months and made a lot of money and decided I was going to buy a house, move to Arizona and become a corrections officer. It was something I wanted to do at that time. I wanted to leave the industry and grow up a little bit. I thought that I was going to retire somewhere in the field of law enforcement. But I ended up coming back better than ever!

SL: What was it that drew you into the field of law enforcement?

DR: Before I found porn I was working as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation councilor for inmates at a prison here in California. I really liked the environment for the fact that I understood and respected what inmates were there for. You break a law, you commit a crime and you put yourself in that situation. You can do it one of two ways: you can come in, do your time, do it correctly and change your ways, become a better person, etc. or you can come in, be a hard-ass, create more problems for yourself and stay even longer. Those were the ones who made me think; ‘you want to do it like that? You want to be a dick? God, I wish I was a corrections officer, because I would give you HELL!’ When I got the opportunity to apply for a corrections position I was all for it. When I got the job I was known for being a hard-ass. They always gave me a hard time, my nickname was ‘Olive Oyl’ because I always wore my hair in a bun, wore no makeup and I didn’t take any shit from anyone! They knew what they were there to do; I didn’t need to give them a hard time because they gave each other a hard time. I didn’t play favorites or create chaos because there are already a lot of officers that do that. They have their favorites and they do favors for inmates and I didn’t play that game. You show me respect and I’ll show you respect. I liked it. I liked it a lot. I would go work for the LA county sheriff right now but for the fact that my current career makes me kind of ‘high profile.’ I was told it would probably be best if I didn’t apply for the job. But I did talk to another recruiter who said that was bullshit.

SL: Shit, I have to imagine that if I was locked down and I saw you walking the tier… You must have caused all kinds of havoc…

DR: Well, I didn’t have any ‘enhancements’ when I was an officer. I looked a lot different than I do now. I’m sure I got attention, but I was never really one to look for it or recognize it in that environment. I never got any comments, so if they were making them, they weren’t saying them to my face.

SL: They were probably too afraid of you.

DR: (Laughs) Yeah, I’m kind of a hardass like that.

SL: What’s up with Dylan Ryder these days?

DR: Right now I am working on my official site www.dylanryder.com and I just signed an exclusive performer contract with Bluebird Films, so I’ll be doing all of my feature movies and all of that good stuff exclusively with Bluebird, so I am very excited about that! I also just signed on as an official sponsor for my little sisters who are MMA fighters.

SL: You have sisters who are MMA fighters?

DR: Yes! Jocelyn and Jillian, who are my little sisters, are twins. They are the only twin armature female MMA fighters out there. They are hoping that the sport will open up a 115lb weight class so that they can go pro. They just signed on with the same guy who manages the Diaz Brothers. My sisters are a tough little twosome and they’ve got a good thing going. I enjoy going to watch them fight as well as helping them out. They’ve asked me to come on and help design a women’s lifestyle clothing line. Lots of interesting stuff going on; it’s definitely gonna’ be a good year!

SL: It sounds like you keep really busy.

DR: It does feel like I’m always busy, but I like it that way. I’m normally up at 7AM; I do spin class at 8:45. I go about my day and then I’m back in the gym by 3:45. It’s kind of hard to sleep in at my place, there’s always something going on!

SL: Where can your fans find you?

DR: I’m on Twitter, @DylanRyderxxx. I retweet a lot of stuff on there because I like to pay it forward when I read something I think is interesting. I like to post on there so fans can follow what’s going on with the website and all that stuff. I’m going to reprise my role as Katwoman in Bluebird’s sequel to Batfuxxx. I don’t know exactly what the story is going to be, if it’ll be all about Katwoman, but I do know that the costume is really fucking hot! It looks really hot, lots of leather and it’s awesome. I’ve got some movies in the works, but I can’t really give anything away because they haven’t announced them yet. I pretty much gave Bluebird the rest of my career. I don’t know if that means 12 more months or 24 months or what, but either way I’m going to move on after this to something else. I told them we can be as sexually explicit as we want this year, so we’ll see what happens!
